Crosswalk Safety Warning System for Pedestrians to Cross the Street Intelligently

چکیده

During signal transitions at road sections and intersections, pedestrians vehicles often clash cause traffic accidents due to unclear right-of-way. To solve this problem, a vehicle safety braking distance model considering human–vehicle characteristics is established applied the designed crosswalk warning system enable cross street intelligently. The developed consider improves parking sight pedestrian crossing psychological models by adding consideration of effect size type on psychology. was improved for stopping models. effects psychology were taken into account. can be divided detection module, control wireless communication module. detects position speed discriminates conflict situation, executing corresponding plan three different types situations. provides through color displays intelligent crosswalk. results show that proposed model, which synergistically couples speed, driver reaction time, characteristic correlation coefficients, impact pedestrians, safe effective. solves problem from both theoretical technical aspects.

Staying in the Crosswalk: A System for Guiding Visually Impaired Pedestrians at Traffic Intersections.

Traffic intersections are among the most dangerous parts of a blind or visually impaired person's travel. Our "Crosswatch" device [4] is a handheld (mobile phone) computer vision system for orienting visually impaired pedestrians to crosswalks, to help users avoid entering the crosswalk in the wrong direction and straying outside of it. This paper describes two new developments in the Crosswatc...

Simulation of Pedestrians Crossing a Street

The simulation of vehicular traffic as well as pedestrian dynamics meanwhile both have a decades long history. The success of this conference series, PED and others show that the interest in these topics is still strongly increasing. This contribution deals with a combination of both systems: pedestrians crossing a street. In a VISSIM simulation for varying demand jam sizes of vehicles as well ...

How do healthy older pedestrians walk when they cross the street?

About 54% of pedestrians killed on French roads are over 60 years old (ONISR, 2012), whereas this age group represents less than 24% of the French population (INSEE, 2013). Factors such as slowdown of decision-making, reduction of walking speed, and difficulty of adopting sufficient safety margins can explain that over-representation of older pedestrians in traffic accidents (e.g. Lobjois & Cav...

Age-related differences in street-crossing safety before and after training of older pedestrians.

International accident statistics indicate that elderly pedestrians make up an extremely vulnerable road-user group. Past research has shown that older adults make many unsafe street-crossing decisions and adopt insufficient safety margins, especially when vehicles are approaching at high speed. Apart from studies on road design and speed-limit countermeasures, there is surprisingly no road-saf...
